How to keep loop selection selected?

Hello,

In Pro Tools 2021: I select a range of audio and click the Play button with Loop enabled. So naturally it plays to the end of the selection and then goes back to the beginning and plays again.

But when I hit the spacebar to stop play, my selection gets deselected. So if I want to loop through the selected playback again, I have to make the selection again.

Is there a setting or keyboard shortcut that I can use that stops looped playback while also maintaining the loop selection?

Turn off "Insertion follows playback"

• It's the button under the selector tool.
• Or you can go to the Options menu and uncheck it
• Or if you have keyboard focus on the edit window, you can just press the "n" key on your keyboard (you'll see that first mentioned button turn off/on each time you press n if you are doing it right)

Those are 3 different ways to do the same thing

not my 2024 copy of free pro tools on a m1 Mac, when I choose the loop it will only repeat if I select it again in the transport bar, during recording I have to additionally hit the space bar to engage in recordings in addition to having both record and playback loop selected.
