Default Unexplainable misfortune. PLEASE HELP!

I have Protools LE version 8 running on a Mac OSX. Recently some freakiness has been occuring when trying to record. The peak meter of the track enabled is picking up mic signal even when the mic preamp input knob is at zero. How is this possible? It has happend with my MBox and my 003, my condenser mic and my 58. CAN ANYBODY HELP? thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to the DUC! this is the HD forum and the interfaces are very different? try the LE forum here...

The pre amp control is NOT a volume control it does not go from completely off to full on!! it is a gain attenuator which will add or subtract gain for the pre amp so even when completely down there will still be gain on the pre amp.

What PIs are you using? Some plugins are 'noisy' even when nothing is running through them.

Also, when you say peak meter, are you referring to the red square at the top of the meter? Or are you saying you are getting visible/audible levels at the bottom of the meter?
