I’ve got an old WinXP/HD4 rig that will go right at 8 hours until file sizes get too big for the OS, so what you’re asking is possible. An option you might not have considered is if you use RME interfaces, they have their own proprietary multitrack recorder in their software. It’s just a plain recorder, no DAW functionality whatsoever. I’ve never tried it but I’ve heard it’s rock solid, would give it a test out first. If it works then I think there’s a way to convert it to wave files and import to PT to mix.
