The Best Marketing Ideas

I looked at the "best list" for stuff and suddenly got inspired. How about something that makes sense for independents and small studio owners.

The best marketing ideas for ProTools professionals. We all know things have slowed down so what are you guys doing to try to pay the bills? I'll go first:

#1 Marketing idea: Post production. Keep a small radio by your desk and keep a log of those commercials that are obviously produced by radio jocks. Market your services directly to the client and bring in a small advertising agency to cover your butt on copywriting, media buying, marketing, etc.

The biggest portion of the "bill" for the client is buying the airtime. Convincing them to spend a few hundred bucks to put something "worthy of the money they are spending" on the air isn't very hard. This also works for TV.

I've landed a new ad agency by getting ahold of their client this way. I also landed a small LAN-party place this way too.

I've thought about that commercial idea before, but I haven't tried it.

There's a book called Ruthless Self Pormotion In The Music Industry by Jeffrey Fisher that has lots of great ideas like that one... it's hard for musicians to think of ourselves as marketers, but if we are in business for ourselves, we are.
