Default Protools 8.0 LE & Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

I am new to the MAC world and the difference in their OS's compared to Windows. Ok, so here is my situation:

I had a Dell XPS 600 Desktop with Windows XP Pro and was using a Digi 002 Rack with Protools LE 7.0. I just recently bought an iMac which has Snow Leopard 10.6.8 OS on it and a new Digi 003 Rack. The 003 came with two Protool LE 8.0 install CDs. One for PC Windows XP/Vista and one for Macintosh 10.5 OS. My question is, can I connect the Digi 003 to my iMac and then install the Protools 8.0 LE even though it says it is for MAC OS 10.5 and my iMac has 10.6.8 OS?? I am used to Windows based OS's such as XP/Vista/7 and not the MAC OS's that have these different versions...10.5.X /10.6.X...etc??? Maybe install it and then run the Protools Updates?

Any help would be great, I tried to read the Avid compatible charts and they start to get confusing.

THANX

Gracias.

English: It happens the same thing to you. Last week I bought an iMac with Leopard 10.6.8 OS and it does not work the Mbox 2 Mini with Pro Tools 8.0, I'm testing the version of Pro Tools 8.0.5 and see if it works. Someone're like?. I only know that the potential is also to restore the OS from the factory. Although I do not why it would but if other users if it serves to benefit.

If you know something, a patch, contact.
Thank you.

Not claiming any particular Mac expertise here, but in my experience, unless specifically cautioned to the contrary the Mac OS indicators imply "or later". You should be fine using the OSX 10.5 PT disc, but do pay attention to the compatabilities in the chart you're having trouble figuring out.

I converted from PC to Mac when the shipping OS was 10.5.8, which happened to have been supported by Avidesign at the time. Be aware that 10.6.8 has not been officially blessed AFAIK. That doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but you may be on the bleeding edge for a little while. You may want to consider keeping tbe old rig working in the interim.

As a PC vet, I've been pleasantly surprised how easy the startup and updates work in Macville. I do advise that you EXACTLY follow the setup instructiions in the spiral~bound Digi book, and update with a backup plan.

Thanks Bob! I appreciate the reply and the advice. I think I will wait just a little longer until Avid does actually bless the 10.6.8 and put a 10.6.8 Combo update.. :)

Thanks again,

Congratulations on getting right the very first Mac/PT concept... turning off Software Update, and using only Combo Updates. You're gonna do fine.
