Internal SCSI Cables
I'm currently building a mix system using a Apple G4 shell adding in my own drives, graphic card, SCSI Controller - (ATTO) etc. In reference to the internal 68 pin SCSI cables for the HDD's - to the best of anyones knowledge is there any particular brand using the LVD / Ultra 320 spec that performs to a higher standard than the generic ones that are supplied with the drives?
Thanks Guys... Darren [email protected] <font color="#666666"> <font color="#666666"> |

Re: Internal SCSI Cables
Unless you are trying to go long lengths, more than a half-meter, I wouldn't worry about it. LVD is a balanced interface and, just like balanced audio, most noise tends to be cancelled out by its design. I've used regular cheap flat cables and those expensive twisted pair cables, and never found any difference in performance whatsoever. The only thing that might matter is the cable's proximity to other electrically noisy things. Keep it a few centimeters away from the circuit board and try not to run bundled with other cables, you should be okay. You can use the expensive stuff if you want to impress your friends, it certainly will not hurt!
