Batch rename disk file name too?
Hi there,
I know how to batch rename the audio clips (at the right) displayed inside the right column. But after renaming the disk file remained the same too. Wondering if there's a way to batch rename the clips and disk file? I think I remember seeing an option of renaming both the clip name and disk file name but now it's gone?

Re: Batch rename disk file name too?
I don't think this has ever been possible as a batch operation within Pro Tools. The option to rename disk files as well has only ever been available in the classic 'Rename Clip' dialog.
It would be nice to have that option, yes. |

Re: Batch rename disk file name too?
I've used SoundFlow to rename the audio files the same as the clip name after I do batch renames.
But it just now occurs to me, one could use SoundFlow to pull this off like a native PT shortcut, i.e.:

And Avid has ignored us though multiple users have pointed out the easy way to avoid/warn a user if they are going to give 2 files the same name in the same folder. (This is the scenario they say is the reason for no "batch file rename") So currently you first "batch clip rename" and then immediately hit the key combo for "file/clip rename" and just keep hitting enter until all the files you had selected are done. That transfers the clip name to the file if the selected is a file. It's tedious and a waste of time when Avid could give us many ways to make this a single stroke but what we have to do until Avid gets it together and listens. (this is what Soundflow is doing too)

Re: Batch rename disk file name too?
+1 for a tick box for Rename Disk File in the Batch Clip Rename function!

I've since made the script I mentioned previously, which I may share later to the SoundFlow forum. Now my SF overrides PT's key command for batch clip rename, and it handles the file renaming - and whats even cooler about it is it is using Pro Tools new SDK/API so the file renaming happens invisibly (you dont see the clip rename popup X number of times).
