Ha, I'm never in grid mode. Always Slip. And I use the modifier to stick to the grid when needed. So it does have value.

I had no idea it was so contentious.

Heh...hitting the darned "N" key is way more annoying for me(but in the end, its on me and not PT) With the advent of customizable keyboard shortcuts, you might well be able to do just what you are wishing for(I have yet to dive into that as I am comfortable with things as they were/are).

As this is a modifier key for a mouse action, it is not customizable (none of those things are customizable)

You can at least disable the damn N key

I do like to switch insertion follow on and off but a single key is too easy.

Yup - me too - has always seemed like a nice enhancement.

To disable the "N" key, turn off focus keyboard mode. You can always write macros to recreate the focus commands you like and want to keep.

But Avid gives us no way to turn off "command" affecting slip mode. There is no workaround.

Presuming you guys don't produce promos / commercials for broadcast. I get why this feature is handy for producing music, but what you see as an enhancement for me is a really annoying bug.

I just want to be able to turn it off.

It forces me to pay close attention: ensuring I've either let go of the mouse after making my selection, or not hitting "command" when copying or pasting. So I've been working at ProTools 12.5 or lower all these years.
+1

I understand the logic of why it was changed, but it catches me out literarily every day still. I too would like an option to switch it off

Thanks for some support on this!

Years ago I was told the development costs to make this user selectable were too high. No changes would be made.

Yet Avid recently went through all the development needed to add exhaustive "Keyboard Shortcuts" in PT 2022 - which STILL won't let us disable "Command" snapping to grid while in Slip mode.

It's almost sadistic. They *want* us to suffer.
