Default 6.4 Buggy

I installed 6.4 over the weekend and found that it blinks. You just run along and all of a sudden it just starts blinking away I also found that the new software seems to make editing anything but smooth. 6.1.1 seemed fine but 6.4 seems to jump around a bit at least on my home 002. We haven't upgraded yet in any of the places I work, so I have nothing else to compare it to. Is anyone else finding this, and have you found a tweek

Asus A7VX8-Deluxe, 1 Gig Corsair RAM, 1 40 Gig system drive, 1 200Gig Files drive, Matrox Parhelia,
Fireconnect 4400 Firewire card, Pinacle ProOne card

I have had a few issues that are of concern. When I ran a MIDI dump last night, I got a CPU out of power error. Ummm... It is a simple MIDI dump, no sweat! It still dumped it though?

I have noticed that the scrolling glitches some.

I will be tracking a band tomorrow and will get back with you in I have any serious issues. Gonna test 16 tracks in tonight just to make sure I am in the clear before the customer comes over.

Also, something to note. I did not UPGRADE to 6.4, but rather formatted my C: drive and rebuilt the machine. I then ran the 6.4 .exe and loaded a clean build from there. So no remenant of 6.1.1 or anything else was on it.

More tomorrow!

I'm having real bad problems with 6.4. It takes 7 seconds to start recording, and I cannot move out of 1024 and 65%!!!!! I just added 512 more memory (ddr2700 333mhz) and no change.

Tonight I will bring a new 40g drive for the OS and start from scracht. I finally Got 6.1.1 to work, (bad HD) the only thing that made me go to 6.4 was BTD. Now I'm stuck in 6.4 with this issue.

I am noticing that in 6.4 my PT sessions crash randomly.......just out of the blue "PTLE has performed and illegal operation". This did not occur in 6.1.1. I don't yet know if it happens on NEW sessions created specifically in 6.4...so far I have only worked on 6.1.1 sessions that have been modified to reflect the new +12Db gain structure. It is MAJOR annoying........but at least the BTD function is repaired.

Ill do a new session this afternoon so we will see...

IntelDoc - I didn't realize you could do the 6.4 install without having a previous version installed. That's good to know.

Last night, I notice MIDI ports weren't showing on my 002. I verified mmerefresh.exe was running as a service, no ports. Decided to uninstall ProTools (it had been a 6.1->6.1.1->6.4 upgrade), and reinstalled 6.1 followed by 6.4. MIDI works again.
I wish I'd known a little earlier that I could skip one of those installs, would have saved me 2 minutes.

No. What do you mean? When I installed 6.4 it automatically did this and it took me a few minutes to figure out what the problem was.

DOC, 6.4 is supposed to be installed on top of 6.1 not stand alone.
The only leftover 6.1 stuff you might want to get rid of would be your 6.1 preferences before you install 6.4
