Default Keyboard Shortcuts-Apple Thin Keyboard

Hello All: Last night I installed my new THIN keyboard to my PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 (non-Intel). Of course, lots of my keyboard shortcuts no longer work. For example: Smart Tool does not work using F6F7, only using Command 7. There are some others as well. I tried going into Preferences of my Mac etc. to no avail.

Has anyone successfully created custom key commands with the new THIN Apple Keyboard? I would GREATLY appreciate any assistance.
