PT7.1 - QT & OS compatibility
Hi - Havn't seen any posts on this going back 7 pages so thought i'd ask - what are the latest versions of Qucktime and OS that PT 7.1 is compatible with? I'm at QT7.4.1 and OSX 10.4.10.
dual 1.25 G4 1.75 Gb RAM thanks>>> dean |

Re: PT7.1 - QT & OS compatibility
That's newer than what I'm using. How's it working for you?
What's your M-Audio hardware/driver version? |

Re: PT7.1 - QT & OS compatibility
it's all working ok - about the same as usual meaning PT chokes and gives me the dialog that my machine's overloaded and i need to remove plugins or delete tracks even when i have only 4 tracks and no plugins!>!> but it doesn't do that often except when i'm trying to run Reason in Rewire mode. i can barely get through a take and have to record audio out of reason one track at a time.
other than that, fine hahahha. i'm using a Firewire 410. control panel version 1.3.2, driver v. 1.8.2 d |

Re: PT7.1 - QT & OS compatibility
I guess it's not working that great then.
I can run a full track count with no issues as long as I don't get too carried away with CPU-intensive plugs. I don't use any fancy plugs though just EQ, comp, verb, etc. No VIs or anything like that. My setup: G4 DA with Giga dual 1.6, 1.5GB RAM, and SATA drives on a SeriTek PCI card Delta 1010 OS 10.4.9 QT 7.0.3 M-Audio CP 1.3.4 driver 2.0.7 The Delta gets wonky sometimes with system sounds/other apps, but PT is totally stable. |

Re: PT7.1 - QT & OS compatibility
hi -
i thought i responded. Mac G4 dual 1.25 processor 1.75 G RAM the drives are all internal. i've tried moving them around, putting them on different speed busses but it doesn't seem to have any effect - i can have a new project with only 4 tracks and 4 plug-ins and i'll get the "your processor cannot handle it...reduce the number of tracks or plug-ins". i can only run Reason in Rewire mode for a few minutes - even if there's only 1 track and it's the only plugin - before getting that dialogue box so i have to print to audio all my Reason tracks one by one. I've tried various buffer settings and percent of the processor devoted to the app but nothing seems to have any significant effect. can it be that i don't have enough free room on my drives? doubtful, right? any help is appreciated. this has been going on for months. thanks, dean |

If they're processor intensive, 4 may be all you can get out of a G4. |
