FEATURE REQUEST: Auto create playlist on record

I don't care about "cancel track record". What would be one billion times more helpful would be for Pro Tools to have the option to auto create a new playlist EVERY time you press record. Surely with the technology it takes to make punch record work, it wouldn't take much more to create auto create playlist.

It does but you have to be in loop record mode and I think it has to cycle to the end of the selection to generate the playlist. It's not exactly what you're asking for but similar.

Make a shortcut for “create new playlist” (ctrl+shift+\ I think)

I set it to the top two buttons of my Kensington, makes tracking a breeze.

I have a Keyboard Maestro macro that duplicates a playlist and goes into record when I hit opt-ctl-cmd-space bar. Very handy and simple to set up.

That’s a good one.

We gotta be careful what you ask for around here- they mess up more than they fix. Best solution is finding a workaround outside of avid’s control. Whomever they consult for new features seem to not consider 99% of actual working situations or practical things (like proper delay compensation)...things you need to maximize the value of your time in the studio.

How is anyone creating a shortcut for "create new playlist"?

The only option for a new playlist seems to be "New...", which is also the same text used to create a new TRACK... so this does not seem to work for playlists?

Not in OS X shortcuts- you need an app that will perform keystrokes. Kensington trackball works or keyboard maestro will do this for you.

Logic Pro X does this. Every time you hit record it puts that take into a track folder. In fact, you have to go into Preferences and specifically ask Logic NOT to do it.

If any of the programmers had to actually do a huge session for a living, they'd fix it ALL , in minutes.....
