Default Importing Audio

I need to edit some VO tracks and tried to import them from CD into PT Free without success. Most are 44.1K files direct from the CD. What do I need to do to import them into PT for editing?

Dear Gig:

You need to "strip" the tracks first. Use a program like iTunes to import as an AIFF or Toast to "extract" tracks as AIFFs.

Then, you can use the import track selection from the drop down menu over the right-hand track listing in your open session.

I hope this makes some kind of sense!

SoundApp is also a handy file conversion utility that can extract & convert.

If you rip the tracks as AIFF's you'll have to use the "Convert & import" function in the region bin menu.

What's been said above works fine, but it can also be done within PT.

In the "Movie" pull down menu, choose "Import from other movie". PT imports the tracks in two steps, first as an stereo AIFF-file, then converts those to two SDII mono files.

Hey M.M.!

Thanks for the nifty "Movie Menu" info! I just saved a million steps with this method.

Very, Very cool!
