Anyone in more rural areas using Starlink for your ISP?
Curious to know more about your experience as far as upload/download speeds and ability to do Source Connect/ADR,etc.

Re: Anyone in more rural areas using Starlink for your ISP?
Yes we have Starlink I do not use Source Connect so can't give any first hand insights
BUT in general the download speed is really good and much much much better than the ATT cell phone tower mounted 3rd party ISP connection we used to use = which was usually between 5 and 12 mbs download Just checked and currently my download speed is 177 now it can drop to maybe as low as 25 -30 and go as high as 200 + but usually around 95 to 150 The Now the upload speed is somewhat better but only by maybe double or less From about 3 to 5 mbs with the cell tower and now from 7 to 15 . usually around 8 or 10

Re: Anyone in more rural areas using Starlink for your ISP?
Most of the issue with satellite services has been latency more than throughput. What's the ping times on your Starlink service?
Had a studio up in the Malibu hills and we had to use satellite (this was before starlink was fully available) and anything streaming would end up buffering. Ended up using point-to-point line-of-sight ground dishes (something you can do if you are at a high enough elevation and can get line of sight to an ISP tower that does PTP) Have a friend currently in southeast part of California hills using StarLink. It works for him but he's a singer/songwriter so not a lot of network demand compared to Post Production.

I have no idea on the ISP tower and whether it has PTP but I might be able check on that. I know where there is a tower in the area about 6-7 miles away.

OK just did the Ookla speed test.
