Default Side Chain Arriving Late to RTAS Plug - Delay Comp On

I have a side-chain that is being received by an instance of Digi's Compressor/Limiter Dyn 3 that I am using for ducking. If the C/L plug-in is TDM the ducking is on time, but when the C/L plug-in is set to RTAS the ducking is late. Delay Compensation is on.

The side-chain signal is a send from an audio track. The track with the C/L plug-in is also an audio track.

Why should there be any difference in behavior between RTAS and TDM when Delay Compensation is on? Shouldn't the difference between RTAS and TDM be invisible as long as the System Delay is less than the Delay Compensation delay (Delay Compensation idiot light = green)?

It'd be great if you could make the sidechain arrive early as well.

I've noticed this as well. I stopped trusting ADC for side chains and just use a dupe track to side chain from and nudge it forward. That gives me better control over how the compressor reacts to the side chain input.. It's like faking the "lookahead" feature but with way more control of the lookahead....or lookbehind if you want

I'm aware of workarounds, but I'm disturbed at what appears to be unreliability of Delay Compensation.

Digi? Any words on this?

I've had issues with automation and ADC, but never with sidechaining (be it to a tdm or rtas plug, audio track or aux). How are you guys setting up your sidechains?

The side-chain is on a bus sent from an audio track. The bus is then selected in the side-chain selection box of the compressor (Compressor/Limiter Dyn 3).

I notice this always with both TDM and RTAS plugs. I do what the above poster did, duplicate track and nudge earlier, usually about 80ms or so. It does seem like the amount is affected by whether its RTAS or TDM, but I haven't put my finger on what it is. I've always assumed the issue was related to ADC in some way...

Were your tracks 'in the red' with ADC after switching that plug to RTAS?

No red adc indicators on my setup. I'm using the side chain through a buss send as well. I kinda prefer the dupe track setup now anyway for the nudging options
