Default R.I.P. Ray Shulman

Ray writing and bass playing skills in Gentle Giant have been the biggest influence in my musical life. He had been a virtuoso violin player as a kid and I think that had a huge impact in the way he approached bass. As an incredibly unique multi instrumentalist, there is no one like him. He was a genius.

I remember the first time I heard Giant...I was amazed at their ability and complexity but their whimsical approach put a smile on my face at the same time. I still listen to Ray's playing and think..."how did he come up with that??" The Power and the Glory stands out as my favorite. Did get to see them on their final tour.

This one hit me hard. Condolences to his family.

Saw that he passed. Very sad.
