Mbox 2 crashes Intel iMac

I've been fighting with this for a month now... I have a MBox 2 in an Intel iMac with OSX 10.4.7, 2GB memory RAM, Pro Tools 7.1.1cs1

The computer start to crash as soon as I install Pro Tools and use the Mbox. Crashes on any application, mostly FCP, but also on iTunes, Safari, Yahoo Messenger, anything. I zero erase my hard drive and started from scratch, installing everything. Worked fine for two weeks, no crashes, nothing. Som I decided to give PT another chance. As soon as I installed it and connected the MBox the crashes began again.

Any one else having this problem?? The MBox is connected on its own USB port (I tried the three of them) with nothing else connected to the computer.

I did what the Technical Support guy suggested. I unistall Pro Tools from the disk, remove all elements and then reinstall only CoreAudio... FCP run fine for some three hours and it started to crash again... it also crashed Yahoo Messenger and Skype... The Technical Support guy said that maybe its something with 10.4.7. I would give the M Box one more chance. I would erase my disk and install everything... I would also try to install 10.4.6 instead of 4.7.... if it gives me one more charsh, it's going back to Digidesign
