Default I\'m building a new PC, will these parts work or conflict with digi001

my last PC ended up being a real expensive paper weight so i'm trying to research this investment a little bit better. on my last go around i made the mistake of going with a AMD chip that wasn't a via chipset. i'm going all out on this system and realy need all the advice i can get. these are the parts i'm about to buy.
-Codegen Mid Tower 6049-G5 300W P4 ATX USBCase
-Lite-on 48X12X48 CD-RW
-Sony 1.44MB Floppy
-Western Digital 20GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
-Western Digital 80GB ATA100 7200 Hard Drive
-Intel D845EBG2 Pentium 4 (478)/845EBG2/DDR/ATX/Bulk Motherboard
-Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 533MHz 478pin 512K Retail
-(2)512MB PC2100 ECC DDR Memory 2
GeForce 2 MX400 64MB Nvidia AGP Video Card
Elements 19" monitor
Logitech Optical mouse
Logitech internet keyboard
Windows XP Home Edition
Antec SL450 450W P4 ATX Power Supply

will it work?
should i do anything diffrent?
how should i partition my hard drives?
any bios changes?
any other suggestions?

thanks for your help.........

That's going to be a nice setup. I don't see any hardware incompatabilities, but I would advise formatting the data drive NTFS w/ 32k clusters. I have a WD 100GB drive for data & when I formatted it the first time it defaulted to 4K clusters & I got 9073 EVERY TIME even with the biggest buffer. Very frustrating, as I had just built the system from total race car parts (Athlon XP 2100+, PC2700 memory, blah blah...) & it ran anything else almost instantaneously. Just watch it w/ PT & big drives is all I'm sayin'. Best of luck.

Are you going XP or 98? You can't go NTFS in 98. If you go NTFS don't partition. You'll only limit the inherent advantages of this file structure. Otherwise, disable everything in the bios, like parallel, serial, and usb ports as well as onboard audio and midi before you install windows.

Oh yeah... if you put wheels on that box you could drive to work.

i'm going to be running WinXP home eddition. so should i just format both hard drives NTFS and not partition either of them, or should i format the 20 gig drive i'm using for my os and programs fat32 and partition it and not the 80 gig i'll be doing all my audio on (leave it NTFS).
