Timestamp out of range
Hi,
I'm trying to spot stereo interleaved BWF files into PT but getting errors. The files show correct timecode in the Workspace: http://www.staczek.net/shots/workspace.jpg The session is set up so that timecode should be in range: http://www.staczek.net/shots/setup.jpg When I try to drag in spot mode, I get this: http://www.staczek.net/shots/error.jpg How is the original time stamp out of range? Can PT not import stereo interleaved BWF files? Does the convert to mono lose the timecode information somehow? These files were exported from Nuendo and spot right back into Nuendo correctly. Thanks, Jason |

Hi.
Check, in prefs, the edit window length. Also, try dragging the files into the edit window in slip mode, then switch to spot & move the audio with grabber. Click "original time stamp". ~ Mac Pro 8 core - clover - 10.5.8 / HD5 / Pro Tools 8.0.1cs2 / Magma PE6R4 / ProControl 24 faders ~ . . ~ MBP 2.66 Intel Core i7 / oo2 / Mbox 2 / Micro / Command 8 / Pro Tools 9.0.1 ~

Anyone else experiencing this? I've also noticed that drag into the edit window in PT9 takes forever. Several minutes of spinning beach ball before a short clip appears. Using Import | Audio is nearly instantaneous. Why different? Something broken in PT9? Jason |

Re: Timestamp out of range
Hello,
I am bringing this topic back up because I am having the same issue. I have followed the steps regarding using slip mode and then SPOT but it did not work, I am not clear on how I should set the EDIT windows standard length? the files I have comes from a couple of JoeCos and they are BWF. they spot perfectly in nuendo but protools says out of range. the original time stamp of the files starts at abour 21.00 hours. any suggestions? Best, Mattia. |

Re: Timestamp out of range
So set your session length to , say, 3 hours. Session start at say 20:00 hours.
Pull your files in, set tool to grabber, edit window to spot. Grab a file / region select "original time stamp". And all should be good .

Re: Timestamp out of range
I would guess it has to do with the files being interleaved and versions before 10 only using split flies in the Timeline

Re: Timestamp out of range
Just to clarify, you can import interleaved files, PT will just convert them to split stereo.
Session length; go into your session set up ( cmd 2 on number keypad ). Set your session start time. . Go into PT pref's / display/ "Edit window default length". It's also a good idea to; PT Pref's / operation / "open-ended Record Allocation". . Set a time period. . obviously a long enough time period to cover the gig etc .
