Before everyone runs out to buy Vista, please note; There has been no cut off date announced. You may only qualify if you purchased in the last 30 days before launch. And it may only apply to purchasers of new computers to keep sales from lagging just before the new operating system arrives.

They did the same thing with XP back when Vista was introduced. Also the article I read indicated that this would only be through MS volume licensing partners E.G. Dell, HP, IBM etc. With possibly a exception for boxed full retail versions of Vista Ultimate. I would wait until the plan is announced.
Windows7 could change between now and its release. Talk to a few of the actual Vista Beta testers about what happened there. I must admit I like 7 better at this stage than I did the last 2 Vista beta pre releases. It's not good till it it ships good.
