Re: Audio Import....unable to aacquire playback de
How are you trying to listen to it? Are you browsing with the Pro Tools Workspace? It sounds more like you are browsing in windows explorer and trying to use a program that requires the Digidesign hardware for output. All Digidesign drivers are single client drivers, so if you have Pro Tools open, the Digidesign hardware will be unavailable for other programs.
You can audition the audio through the Digidesign hardware while Pro Tools is open by using the Pro Tools Workspace. Details are in Chapter 11 of the Reference Guide.

Re: Audio Import....unable to aacquire playback de
Do you have the audition path setup correctly in the I/O Setup?

Re: Audio Import....unable to aacquire playback de
WOW....I got the very same error this morning.(PT import audio box/screen/workspace) Don't know why though. It worked great before. Maybe because I was trying to audition audio from a cd before importing it?
I was in a rush so I didnt trouble shoot anything. or maybe I'm getting lazy.

OK, now we're getting more into the heart of the matter. You were pretty vague when you first described your problem.
So the light turns off and stays off when you open the import window? That seems odd (mine just blinks off and on again when opening the import window). Has your unit had the power harness replaced?

Re: Audio Import....unable to aacquire playback de
WOW... the "1394" (firewire) light does go out when I enter the Import Audio window. I have no problems importing the audio. I just can't audition it.
I have never had my power harness replaced. I my unit is about 3 years old and has been working great. I'm using 7.1cs10. sorry for chiming in...
