Default SysEx Editor\'s

Greetings All

Who here uses a SysEx Editor?

Unlike curve-style Continuous Controller (CC) Events, from my research, hacking the hex values, of a certain parameter, gives you, this sort of ability.

Quote An almost excel like display of the hex values that make up the sysex string.

Any truth to this? Better yet, anybody done this?

Seems like there's a whole lot of them over on MIDI-OX.

...and indeed you can do it and more!

why bother working out the hex strings, unless you are dealing with a digital mixer or something else that has to many controls for the number of MIDI controllers there realy isnt any point.

With respect bb_aus, it's just a personal curiosity, nothing less and nothing more.

I've got a good one for you, now please, correct me if I'm wrong here, but, through some research done of late, I understand that in order for Pro Tools to display Continuous Controller Events, tweaked by the parameters of a MIDI device, one of two things must be present, a MIDI device that supports HUI mode or either a HUI Controller, or a Command 8 in standalone MIDI mode. Correct? This is an extravagant route, just to get, real time continuous controller events displayed.

Any thoughts?

Nope.

CC events, and how to capture and edit them, are covered starting on page 426 of the ref guide. CC events are per MIDI/instrument track; each one has it's own set.

I think you may be confusing Continuous Controller MIDI events with MIDI control of Pro Tools, which is a totally different thing.

Morning Shawn

If I line up CC Events in the Automated MIDI Controller window, say CC 95 (in fact on my MIDI device I have a range of 1-95 Controller Numbers to chioce from) that corresponds with the MIDI device, record arm the track I'm tweaking, MIDI Merge enabled and try and record the Parameter changes, the change of the Parameter sound is recorded, but not displayed.

What am I missing?

as 95 isnt a commonly used controller i think you would need to got to add controller 95. mabey im missing something aswell as ive never dont alot of MIDI in PT but just about everything can be its just a matter of finding where it is.
what version of PT are you using? MIDI has gotta better in every version.

dont get me wrong about sending hex strings via MIDI i have done it alot in the past but it gets very complex, and most of time you simply dont need to do it as all common events can be sent with basic control changes.
