Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
Just upgraded to a 2626 from a Digi 002r and am constantly getting 6101 errors regardless of how many cores I'm using. Any buffer setting other than 1024 is very unstable whether I'm recording one track with one plug in or sixteen tracks with no plug ins. I really don't think it's a system issue as I've tried the same sessions with the same buffer settings on the same drive with my 002 and everything is rock solid. The only difference is the 2626.
Can anybody help? Here are my specs. Pro Tools 9.0.3 OSX 10.6.7 Profire 2626 Dedicated internal WD Velociraptor audio drive 2008 Mac Pro 8 core 3.2GHz with 4 gigs of ram |

Re: Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
Interesting. The 2626 is the complete opposite of suck for me. I have two on PT9.0.3 and M-Powered 8 PC systems. Both solid... love em. Do you have the latest OS X 10.6.7 driver installed?

Re: Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
I do have the latest driver installed. Maybe it's a 9.0.3 issue? I'm just not sure why it would work flawlessly with my 002 and not with the 2626. I really want to be able to use 9.0.3 because it allows the 2626 to be used with a 32 sample buffer.
I actually have not had an issue in Pro Tools since 5.0 and really like the 2626. I just want to be able to use it the same way I used my 002. |

Re: Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
The only other thing I would suggest is, in the PT9 Playback Engine setup, make sure the Profire 2626 is selected as the Current Engine, not "Pro Tools Aggregate I/O". This once gave me errors on my iMac.

Re: Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
Thanks Spenner but I've done that as well. Anybody have any ideas? I'm use to doing tracking sessions at a 32 sample buffer with no issues whatsoever. Now it's an absolute no go

Check how it's connected to the FW chain. I had to connect mine in the opposite order between interface and HD to computer to get it recognized.

Re: Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
It's the only thing connected to the firewire port as I record to a dedicated internal drive. Anybody using the same configuration as me, specifically a 2008 Mac Pro?

Re: Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
I have had no problems with the 2626 on my 2008 Mac Pro, have you tried trashing the preferences? Is this happening on old sessions you are opening up or new sessions as well? I'm pretty sure PT is still not qualified for 10.6.7 so maybe that's your problem?

Re: Why Does The Profire 2626 Suck So Much?
Yup, 10.6.7 is qualified. I've trashed preferences, databases and did all of the basic troubleshooting that Avid recommends. Are you on 9.0.3 and are you able to track reliably at a 32 sample buffer? Am I wrong in assuming that the 2626 should work the same as my 002r in that respect?
