Default Cakewalk File Conversion

I have a client that has some work that he has done using Cakewalk Pro Audio. He wants to bring the files to me so that we can do some overdub, drums and string tracks. My question is what is the best way that to get his cakewalk tracks into Pro Tools. Being as I have never had to do this before I need some help in knowing what I can do.

Thanks in advance,
maslusher

Default Re: Cakewalk File Conversion

I'd love a good answer to this.

Here's what I'm doing:
I open cakewalk, select a track, go to Tools\export audio and save the tracks as mono wave files. Cakewalk should automatically append silence from the beginning of the song to the actual start of the file, so you can import the tracks into PTle and not have to mess around too much with making sure everything lines up musically.

I don't know if this will work, but I'm planning to save my cakewalk projects that use extensive midi as Standard Midi Files and then import them into PTLE, and import the audio tracks one at a time.

What I can't figure out though, is if PTle will transmit Start/Stop/Continue messages to the midi port of my choice. My Korg Wavestations need that to sync up the wavesequences to the tempo of the songs.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Rhett
