Default NEW SHOWSTOPPER MIDi BUG(s) in 12.7
Just realised that when you want to add some notes in realtime on top of an already recorded midi performance,then the previous midi notes are not playing back and some of them (mostly 70%) are "lost" when playback!!
For example let's say you record a simple drum pattern kick and snare...stop
then when you try to record a hi hat in order to merge them,when you press record and playing the hat,kick and snare aren't playing all the time as they should....It's also happening when just playing on top with no record!!!!!!!!
Anyone have this????

Avid introduce a new bug almost in every new release!!!
I am starting to think that they do this on purpose!!!
Anyway,closing session and opening again seemed to fix this for now...
I think there might be some "leakage" when running pro tools for looooong hours...
I also noticed after working long hours in some sessions that some VI's main output volume is dropped somehow

pretty sure it's bug (doesn't matter if it happens randomly...it's there) ...that kind of behaviour is not normal all of a sudden.
Never happened with previous versions...

Are you sure you just don't have MIDI Merge turned on?

it has nothing to do with this
merge is for recording
i was talking about playback...recorded notes were not playing as you play on top
