I hope this box sounds at least as good as an Apogee Duet and I'll be back to Protools in a flash. Considering Avid poached Max (Gutnik)? from Apogee a while ago, and from the pictures I've seen of the Mbox3 with soft limit on the preamps, I have my fingers crossed.

It´s just the love/hate relatinoship you have with Avid being materialized thru this hardware unit. Hence you like it and find it hideous at the same time.

I think it looks pretty good if that is an aluminium case with black faceplate, but I'm more interested if they have upped the ante in the way it sounds, and with USB2, hopefully it performs more stable like a firewire interface......

I've used Protools for over 10 years, Protools 4, 001, 002, 003, with Avalon and Apogee and when I got out of the project studio bis I tried to change for a small portable rig for my own recordings...... Logic with Apogee Duet.......loved the sound, hated Logic, got excited for a while recently with Presonus S1 and a Firestudio Mobile..... but at the end of the day I want to use Protools
So.... fingers crossed

Guess you're right on that one. :) Another role might play that we're always so excited before the release and always so depressed afterwards... (in terms of price, features, fine print)
