Default Drum Loop Tips in Producing/Arranging

Hello -
I've never used sampled or triggered drum loops before until now. I'd like some tips and suggestions from those of you who are currently doing this!

I've found some loops that are in my keyboard that I like a lot, and they are simply triggered by one note on the keyboard. Then, they keep going until you either stop the sound, or take your finger off the key (unless the loop is on "hold").

At any case -

1) how is the best way to add drum "fills", "endings", "turn-arounds", etc., to the drum track that is using the loop, since the loop is the same thing, over and over.

2) what other creative ways are there to mix up the loop.

3) with a triggered loops, any suggestions?

4) with sampled loops - do you keep pasting the loop over and over, and then find a NEW sampled loop for the drum fill, ending, etc and paste that in?

Thanks in advance!

ReCycle. Enough said.

F - PT is great for importing audio loops into a session. It's very simple: set the PT session Tempo to the BPM of your loop and use grid mode.

When we are cranking for clients who want a lot of music (say, for TV underscore) we use this approach a lot.

Once you've recorded live instruments, your whole session can be copied as a loop. For example, I used a "dopeheadz"
loop and just added bass. Done Deal.

There are tons of loop players - but remember: PT alone(as long as you have your loops in WAV or AIF) is just as good as a sampler.

Propellerheads REASON is also amazing. But explore your options in PT first. It is, after all, non-linear audio editing at it's best.
