Default Penciling in Midi notes??

Hey guys, I'm running pte through my mbox3 mini and am having a difficult time using the pencil tool because under the "notes" section where you can pencil in your notes, I am getting notes that are really long and skinny. I have seen plenty of videos on youtube where everyone else's notes are very squared and you have plenty of room to click the right note. I keep clicking above or below what I want because theres so little room.

Here is a screenshot I took and have attached in case I haven't explained myself well enough.

Here is a link of a video where you can see the difference.

You need to open the track in the midi editor window and that way you can zoom in and out and it will make it easier to edit/add midi notes.
Change the track view to something other than notes and double click the midi region and it will open the midi editor.

I guess I should of said that I know how to open the midi editor and do it that way but if you watch the video I posted you can see that he isn't in the midi editor(I think). He's doing it from the edit window

Look at the first picture you posted- all the way on the right side 2nd button below the "a/z" button zooms midi tracks in note view in the edit window
