Re: mac and pc compatibility
When you first start your session, on the page that asks you all the parameters for the session (16/24 bit, 44.1/48kHz, etc.), there will be a box to check called "Enforce Mac/ PC Compatibility". It would also be a good idea to use ".wav" files (instead of AIFF or SDII) as this is PC's native audio format. That should do it...
Then you can burn a disc (as data-not audio) w/ the session on it (make sure you burn it in a format the PC will be able to read- i.e. ISO 9660 or MacOS Extended/ PC Hybrid CD formats both work. You may want to download the Joliet Extensions for your Mac (they're on the Digi download page) to make the names of things show up right, as PC file names can support more than 8 characters. That should be it. Happy transferring... Oh, I see now that you're going from a PC to a Mac- that's okay- it works vice-versa too...

Re: mac and pc compatibility
Hello,
Its no problem to share sessions between Macs and PCs. Both systems need to be running Pro Tools 5.1 or higher for cross platform compatibility. Heres how to transfer sessions back and forth between Macs and PCs. For Mac to PC: -Open the desired session(s) in Pro Tools 5.1 Mac -Choose File>Save Session Copy In” -Choose either AIFF or WAV for the Audio File Type (Windows does not recognize the SDII file format)...AIFF and WAV file formats support 24 bit 44.1kHz data. -Enable the “Enforce Mac/PC Compatibility” option NOTES: -If you are using SCSI (or HFS formatted CD-ROMs), you will need to install MacOpener (DataViz) on the Windows machine. It allows you to read, write, and format Mac HFS drives, CD's and Floppies. MacDrive seems to work better if you are using Firewire drives to transfer files. -If you are burning CD-ROMs of the session(s) on the Mac and not using MacOpener, make sure you use the ISO9660 format. For PC to Mac: -Open the desired session(s) on your PT LE 5.3.1, WinXP system -Choose File>Save Session Copy In... -Choose either AIFF or WAV for the Audio File Type -Enable the “Enforce Mac/PC Compatibility” option Please note the following when moving data from WinXP to Mac OS via CD-R: -Macintosh systems can only recognize data CD's created on a Windows if you install the Joliet extension, avialable here: http://www.digidesign.com/download/utility/ Hope this helps Mike |
