I use a glyph GT hard drive, it is not only recommended by avid (it is ,isn't it ?), it worked with no problems from day one, and it comes with a solid hard box, which makes it easy and safe to take it with you.
The downside is, it is a bit pricy.

jolly good luck

Kai

There are several solid drives, but the real question is; what can you buy in Chile? I like the OWC Mercury line(www.otherworldcomputing.com). They work well and are a lot less money than Glyph. They are also available in several versions with dual FW400 ports, which is handy for daisy-chaining with firewire interfaces.
