Default Increasing Decreasing Buffer Size !!!!

Hi there, I am getting the infamous increase/decrease the buffer size while running Protools 8 on Win 7 home edition when running the Superior Drummer plugin, now I don't have a firewire hard drive, the file is just sitting on my desktop the one I am trying to edit, now just getting the firewire hard drive won't solve the problem would it ???? I have disabled all that I have to disable. network card, internal sound card everything, any help would be greatly appreciated as this is extremely frustrating. Cheers.

Default Re: Increasing Decreasing Buffer Size !!!!

Not having a qualified separate audio drive is certainly not helping you.

And be sure to disable the wireless while running Pro Tools.

Yes, it could!

That's not the case in the report that you posted.

Please run the report on the computer exactly as it is when you are running pro tools. If devices are disabled, please leave them disabled to run the report.

You also appear to be using "virtual drives". make sure you are disabling those as well while using Pro Tools. They are not supported.

You for sure need a second drive for audio. I have had better luck with internal drives. I have been using WD 1GB Black drives for the last year. But I just had one fail one me, had it backed up and WD replaced the drive RMA but it was only 3 mo old. I had problems with WD back in the day and switched to Maxtor and they went to crap, never buy another one from them. This was 10 years ago but I have not heard anything good about them since, Had good results with seagates but some others have not. So take your pick, seems like most people are using the WD Blacks right now. I had a WD Firewire drive that quit on me, took it apart and found a Green drive inside, they are not as good spec wise and most people say to stay away from them. I now use it internal and have had no issues, but the blacks are much faster and seem to be what most guys are using.

That said S.D. is a hog. I love it but I have alot of problems when I push it. And sometimes it crashes with one track? It works great in Reaper but it likes to puke in PT 8.0.3, I am not even going to 8.0.4 after reading all the problems on here, I will wait... But not sure how you use the app, I have been using real drum tracks and using the Drumtracker app and blending the kick, snare, and toms. Also have the Metal Foundry add on pack, killer if you do rock and metal stuff. But like I said for me it is kind of flakey in Pro Tools. 64 bit protools so you would have some ram left over would help, but that will be a while out........ but get another hard drive man!
