Default Quick way to identify record-enabled tracks?

Is there a quick way to identify all currently record-enabled tracks?

I know I can just manually scan through the tracks, but this isn't as easy when you have a large number of tracks. I'm tired of discovering that I've been accidentally recording over additional tracks when I thought I only had one track enabled.

I suppose I could uncheck record-enable for the current track, and watch to see if the "Track Record Enabled" warning light is still one. Is that how people generally do it?

Really, I think your best bet is to just position all the record enabled tracks together on the screen so that the flashing "R" can be easily seen, the quickest way to enable/disable record on a group of tracks is run the cursor down all of them and hit "Shift +R"

I wish there was a similar indicator like the solo and mute status icons in the Edit window toolbar. I'd also like to see a global track armed indicator in the PT Control app - I miss that feature from the old Control 24.

Here are two easy and quick options:

1 - Disable ”Latch Record Enable buttons“ [Preferences/Operation]

When disabled, clicking on any track‘s Record button will automatically disarm any such button currently armed on any other tracks.

If you prefer to keep the latching behavior enabled…

2 - Option-click any Record button twice.

This will arm and then disarm all tracks at once, leaving you with a clean slate from which to select only what’s needed next.

IHTH,

Just option/alt click on any track record button they will all arm or disarm (note ) if it is an audio track only all audio tracks follow and if it is an instrument track only instrument tracks will, so if you have both you will have to do one of each. But if you have tracks not on screen it is a pretty quick method

IHTH,
Disabling latch only works with audio tracks. It doesn't work if you have a MIDI track accidentally still record-enabled when you record-enable a new audio track. I can't tell you how many MIDI tracks I've accidentally erased over the years. This behavior needs to be fixed by Avid. No excuse for this.

The best method I've found is to option click on any record enabled track. That will cancel record on all other tracks. Then you know nothing can be in record. Why would you need to see them if you know you want all of them out of record? That's what got you into trouble in the first place! You thought you knew what was going on, but you didn't!
