Default Pt le on vista

So I guess PT will not work on Vista. I am having nothing but problems! I load up an instrumental, arm a new track for vocals and BAM! screen goes white. do I need to change my operating system to windows 7? I tried pt on my NEW Sony Vaio laptop and I get a lil further. I actually record (same conditions as above) for about 1 minute then I seem to have problems with buffering. Can someone give me a little direction,(not directions to an APPLE store) what can I say. the laptop was a gift!

PTLE works on Vista, PT 9 doesn't.
PT 9 requires W7.

I'll hazard a guess that you are recording to the internal laptop drive? That's a problem. You should be recording to a separate drive that is 7200 rpm(and preferably an approved firewire drive with an Oxford 9xx chipset. Now Vista 64 bit is not supported at all(but 32 bit should work fine with PT7.4 thru 8.0.4cs2)
