Default Need Help Urgent! Protools / M Audio / Audition

Hi,

I have couple of questions. We have a band and we paid an engineer to record our songs and he's pretty good at it. During the process, he got mad at us, apparently for no reason, and now he has sent us the mixed songs and they aren't mixed right at all. We have one song that's done correct and rest of the other songs, he screwed it up big time. I do know that he has done it intentionally. I know that he recorded on Protools. He has commando 8, and I also know that as a fact, he wouldn't mix them right for us. I dont even know if we can take any legal action for this but He is willing to give us Protools native files. I believe he meant sessions.

I have couple of questions:
1. Will we be able to take protools sessions and mix them on something else? On a computer if possible?
2. If it is possible, what formats the native files need to be?
3. I saw online that Pro Tools M-Powered can do that, is that true?
4. I'm fairly comfortable using Audition and is it possible to export Pro tools sessions to Audition?

Help help would be highly appreciated... We just need to find a way to get our songs back, because we have paid lot of money to him.

Thanks.

Ask for:

"Pro Tools sessions saved as Mac/PC compatible with WAV audio files".

You can then open the session with any flavour of Pro Tools. You can then consolidate the tracks starting at Bar 1 Beat 1 and export them as WAV files and use any DAW you wish.

You could ask the engineer to do the latter for you, but considering your relationship isn't so good right now I'd suggest you have them give you "Pro Tools sessions saved as Mac/PC compatible with WAV audio files" and then get yourself an MBox and export the audio yourself.

Hmmm I hate unprofessional engineers, Unfortunatly Pro tools sessions cannot be opened using Audition unless the region files from the PT sessions are consolidated and then imported into Audition.Your best bet really is to get that [bleep] engineer to do this for you, or visit another studio and see if they could do the job for you at a reasonable price (they should do)
Failing that im sure there might be someone on this forum who could do this for you (as I know how frustrating it is to have a demo session and not being able to work with it)

Good luck !!
