Digi003 Weirdness / Question
Been using a Digi001 since 1999. Long time lurker here, just never posted.
Just recently bought a Digi003R, used. PTLE 8 installs fine, OS (Win XP SP3) recognizes new hardware but it "looks a little weird". I'm attaching links to photos of the weirdness below. Of course I'm getting the error the PT cannot find the Digidesign hardware... I've downloaded and installed the Digi003R drivers, installed from disk...etc., still nothing changes. Using a PCI-Express Controller card with TI chipset (TI XIO2213). 2 Intel Xeon processors @ 3.2 Ghz, 3GB RAM, Intel 7520 chipset. I realize the system isn't an "approved" system, but thought I'd ask anyways... Would really like to get this to work if possible. http://toolbox.cherokee.k12.nc.us/images/IMG_1173.JPG http://toolbox.cherokee.k12.nc.us/images/IMG_1174.JPG SiSoftware Sandra Computer Model : Dell Computer Corporation PowerEdge 2850 Workgroup : WORKGROUP Host Name : digi003 User : ME Processor Model : 2x Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz Speed : 3.2GHz Cores per Processor : 1 Unit(s) Threads per Core : 2 Unit(s) Integrated Data Cache : 16kB, Synchronous, Write-Thru, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing L2 On-board Cache : 2MB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 8-way, 64 byte line size, 2 lines per sector, 2 threads sharing Computer Mainboard : Dell Computer Corporation 0T7971 BIOS : Dell Computer Corporation A07 04/25/2008 Bus(es) : ISA X-Bus PCI PCIe IMB USB FireWire/1394 i2c/SMBus Multi-Processor (MP) Support : 2 Processor(s) Multi-Processor Advanced PIC (APIC) : Yes Total Memory : 3GB ECC DIMM Registered DDR2 Chipset Model : Dell PowerEdge 2850 Front Side Bus Speed : 4x 200MHz (800MHz) Total Memory : 4GB ECC DIMM Registered DDR2 Channels : 2 Memory Bus Speed : 2x 200MHz (400MHz) Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Nanya NT1GT72U4PA0BU-5A 1GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-3200U DDR2-400 Memory Module : Nanya NT1GT72U4PA0BU-5A 1GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-3200U DDR2-400 Memory Module : Micron 9HTF12872PY-667E1 1GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-3200U DDR2-400 Memory Module : Micron 9HTF12872PY-667E1 1GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-3200U DDR2-400 Video System Video Adapter : RADEON 7000 / RADEON VE Family (Microsoft Corporation) (VS1.1, 16MB, PCI) Graphics Processor Storage Devices PERC LD 0 PERCRAID 146.5GB : 136GB (G:) PERC LD 1 PERCRAID 146.5GB : 136GB (C:) DELL VSF (SCSI) : N/A (D:) VIRTUALFLOPPY DRIVE Floppy (ATA) : N/A (E:) HL-DT-ST GCR-8240N (ATA33, CD-R, 128kB Cache) : N/A (F:) LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S (USB) : N/A (H:) Logical Storage Devices Removable Drive (D:) : N/A @ DELL VSF (SCSI) Hard Disk (G:) : 136GB (NTFS) @ PERC LD 0 PERCRAID 146.5GB Hard Disk (C:) : 136GB (NTFS) @ PERC LD 1 PERCRAID 146.5GB Optical Drive (E:) : N/A @ VIRTUALFLOPPY DRIVE Floppy (ATA) Optical Drive (F:) : N/A @ HL-DT-ST GCR-8240N (ATA33, CD-R, 128kB Cache) 3.5" 1.44MB (A:) : N/A Optical Drive (H:) : N/A @ LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S (USB) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : Intel 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) LPC Interface Bridge LPC Legacy Controller 1 : T0 F1-11 Serial Port(s) : 1 Disk Controller : Dell PowerEdge 2850 Disk Controller : Dell PERC 4e/Di RAID Controller Disk Controller : Silicon Image (CMD Technology) SiI 0680 UltraATA/133 EIDE Controller USB Controller 1 : Dell PowerEdge 2850 USB Controller 2 : Dell PowerEdge 2850 USB Controller 3 : Dell PowerEdge 2850 USB Controller 4 : Dell PowerEdge 2850 FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : 13330 XIO2213A PCI Express to 1394b OHCI with 3-Port PHY SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : IPMI T1 Controller Network Services Network Adapter : Intel(R) Advanced Network Services Virtual Adapter - Packet Scheduler Miniport (Ethernet, 100Mbps) Power Management Mains (AC) Line Status : On-Line Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 (Service Pack 3) Platform Compliance : x86 Thanks in advance. Re: Digi003 Weirdness / Question
I don't know which version of PT '8' you are using but I'd suggest first installing v8.05. Just run installer (with PT closed) and do not un-install the current version you're using as this is an updater only;
http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=393667 While connected to the internet, go into device manager>double click the IEEE1394 Bus host controllers>double click first controller>driver tab>update driver>search automatically. You should end up with a Texas Instruments compliant driver for the controller. Do the same for any other visible IEEE1394 entries. Then download and install 003 drivers from here; http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...3=1450&Hilite= Install with 003 turned off then reboot with it switched on. If you get any prompts click 'Continue anyway'. It looks like you have only one hard drive, partitioned in two C: & G. PT works best when recording onto a separate physical drive so you may want to consider buying another drive. You may need to do some research on which ones are most suitable for your system. Mis matched RAM can be a problem but I would leave that until last to address. See how PT functions first.

Re: Digi003 Weirdness / Question
Thanks!
I'll try the steps you suggested. I know I'm trying to do this in a bit of an unorthodox style. I picked up a Dell PowerEdge 2850 for free, and that's what I'm trying to run it on. If the RAID drives are a problem, maybe I can use them as individual SCSI drives instead of in a RAID configuration....? I'll keep plugging along. Thanks again. |

Re: Digi003 Weirdness / Question
NCG
I don't think avid supports any type of RAID configuration....... I could be wrong but after reading the manual back and forth for a few versions i am pretty sure that this is no go type of situation..... Your right that device manager entry for the 003r does look really weird.

Re: Digi003 Weirdness / Question
FYI, RAID is no longer an issue with PT10, but it still would be for him, being on PT8.
