Default Protools version with Profile

Hi,

Am running Protools 7.4 which was shipped with the system fine, was toying with trying to run Protools 8 with the create from venue option as shown in the Plaza video.

Can i just download PT8 to run with the profile or do i need to buy an upgrade? Will i need to update anything on the Profile or once PT8 is on my laptop will just work?

Thanks,

Sj

That versions (D-Show 2.9 and PTHD 8.1) aren't available yet, as far as I know.
I saw a demo last month at the Expomusic in Sao Paulo, Brazil, by the Latin America Avid Live Sound Applications Specialist, Ricardo "Rocoto" Mantini.
You have to plug the ethernet cable between the F.O.H (or Mix) Rack and the
computer, besides the Digilink cables, of course.
It'll be a great improvement for people who record live concerts.
It's been said that a new snapshot will become a marker in that position, with the same names, as with the channel names from the Venue to the PTHD Session, very cool.
I also want that.
Regards.
MJ

Oh, you said you want that feature in your Laptop?
So do I!
Sorry, just kidding.
I don't know if that feature will be available for PTLE.
I hope so!
Good luck!

MJ

You will need to purchase an upgrade to PT version 8. You can obtain "free" upgrades with in each version (ex 7.2 to 7.4) but to get to 8, you will need to purchase the upgrade kit. Same with the VENUE software.

I doubt "VENUE Link" will support LE.
