Default Whats the Latest Logic 8/PT 7.4

I need to buy a CD editing/mastering program. I used to use Waveburner in OS 9. I am dumping Toast/Jam and I'd rather not use Peak. I'm thinking of getting Logic and Waveburner.

Before I do that, I was hoping someone who uses both Logic AND PT 7.4 could chime in and help me out here. Is it true that I can use my 192 IO and 1622 IO as inputs to Logic? Can Logic and PT run at the same time on the same machine, with Logic piping in VIs without need for going thru extra AD-DA conversion?

I have 6 gig of RAM on a dual 2.0 Ghz G5. I'm trying to future proof a little. A Peak Pro setup sets me back $300. Wave Editor sets me back $250, and I cannot seem to make a quick CD with it anyways. Logic, while it may set me back $500, might offer more bang for buck in that it gives me a supposedly enormous arsenal of VIs and music production that is supposedly more stable than PT in that regard. Don't know how true that is...

I'm open to suggestions. But I need a CD burning package that lets me:
1) use more than one or 2 VST/AUs per song
2) songs can be rearranged easily
3) text export for log sheets included
4) I can EASILY chop up 2-3 hour session bounces into CD tracks quickly (ala PC Sony software)
5) I can easily run two tracks together graphically
6) I can sub in a different mix for song X if we change it a week later... without doing crossfades...(right now this requires I redo the sometimes painfully anal crossfades clients have me do... which requires another proof disc, and adds time to project, etc)

there's more. but I'm really after whether Logic and PT 7.4 are playing together nicely at all right now....

Hi Brian.

I use the setup you're asking about - with WaveBurner 1.5.2 from the Logic Studio package. Had some problems migrating from Tiger to Leopard, but all well now (if not fully as stable as my 10.4.11-setup). OS 10.5.1 / PT 7.4.1 / Logic Pro 8.0.2 / WaveBurner 1.5.2 - all on a G5 1.8DP with 3 GB RAM.

PT and Logic at the same time??? Perhaps if you ReWire a native Logic into PT... Not sure about this one.

I use Logic with the TDM-package and 192 I/O, internally feeding AU plugs and instruments to Aux/Emagic System Bridge outputs (for DTDM intergration). No Core Audio driver, just TDM and DTDM activated. Working (usually) perfect. Hope this helps, and good luck!
