Default Behringer ADA8000 getting ADAT \"Pops\"

Just loaded a new ADA8000 into my rack.

Have it set to master at 44.1.

goes out optical to 002r (also set to 44.1)

Enabled a ADAT input to record on PT Mixer screen

pluged in a bass

get decent sound...levels fine but also getting "snap-crackle and pops"

Unpluged bass from ADA8000 and they are still there.

Just random pops and such.

any help?

peace

You need to set Pro Tools to clock to the ADA8000

Setups->Hardware->Clock Source

Don't use Behringer products?

Seriously, tho, definately sounds like a clocking issue. Do you have both of the ADAT cables hooked up? One coming out of the DIGI, into the ADA, and one coming out of the ADA into the DIGI? The loop might be necessary for proper clock function...

Thanks

Here is what it is set to now

Digital input

RCA=S/PDIF, OPTICAL +ADAT is checked.

OPTICAL is not? should it be since I am using optical?

Clock source is set to INTERNAL
can choose from

ADAT
S/PDIF
Optical/S/PDIF

Clock source should be ADAT.

Don't mess with the other setting, it is correct.

That may work, but it is standard practice to sync to the external piece. I doubt its true of the Behringer, but most external pre's have a clock that is likely better than the internal one. You SHOULD only need a single lightpipe for sync(my rig works fine clocked to an ISA428).

i am having a similar issue, but instead of the constant clicking that i get when it's clocked to the digi, i get just random pops every 20 seconds. could this be dust near the lightpipe or what? should i clean it out inside. the sound is almost like when the pots aren't clean on my mixer and i move them around. ideas?

I had a familiar issue with the ADA8000.
I did clock it correctly, but getting pops anyway.

Changing the lightpipe cable solved the issue.
