laptop firewire card
Has anybody tried to use one of those firewire cards (adaptec or otherwise) on their notebook? My sager comes with a firewire port, but it's one of those flimpsy 4 pin ones, and it's on the front of it, so i'm always knocking it out or bending the adaptor. I'm considering getting a card just so that i just go with the standard 6 pin firewire, but i don't know if it would make my system go haywire. i know none are currently approved by digi, but didnt there used to be a few that were approved? any ideas?

Re: laptop firewire card
There are some approved by Digidesign. I saw some on Digidesign's site a few days ago.
Looking for the link, can't find it though. Dig deep, its there. 6 |

Re: laptop firewire card
There are no PCMCIA recommendations on the Current qualified FWCard page.
The old page had a list of them, but the list is no longer valid because

Re: laptop firewire card
I Picked one up on ebay. Just some Hong Kong PCMCIA card by someone who had good feedback. It has worked great on my laptop. I got the one that had firewire and usb 2.0. cost me something like $25 including shipping. Good luck.
