Anyone using a PIII 800mhz with an M-Box...
...and getting GOOD results? I just got an M-Box with the Mackie Control surface and am currently running it on my Thinkpad R40, which has a faster CPU, but is also what I use for everything else BUT my audio works.
I'm running Windows 98 on the PIII and was using Cubase vSt on it, and I know I have to get Windows XP for Pro Tools to run, but I figured I'd run it on the laptop until I can afford to get me an Athlon processor and a motherboard to support it. The laptop has all kinds of crap running in the background and so far, Pro Tools sometimes crashes because of it, but on the PIII, I don't run anything in the background at all, only the operating system, so I was wondering if anyone out there is running a similar setup so I can save some cash; so basically if I could only get XP and that's it, that would be cool. |

BTW...
The computer where I've got the PIII installed has two Maxtor 7200 drives (one dedicated to audio), 512mb RAM, an ASUS CUSL2-C motherboard and a Plextor SCSI burner and a Zip drive in the same SCSI chain. Thanks.
