Default crashes on dual 1.25ghz!!!!

I am running a Dual 1.25ghz G4, with 725M of memory. I have an 80gig HD for a boot drive and an IBM 120gig HD for audio. . I am running Digi001 with ProTools 6.0.1 on 10.2 and I have Waves NPP 4.0 installed. Here are my problems:

1. frequent but intermittent protools crash when closing a session or quitting protools. The computer is left unaffected, it is just protools that crashes.

2. Audio problems during playback where the sound will come out in this terrible pulsing sound or a hiccup sound when I press the space bar, then I will stop playback, and start playback again and all will be fine. This too is intermittent, but annoying.

3. Other sparatic protools crashes for no apparent reason.

My computer in general, runs very well smoothly.

I have the same Mac. You mention OS10.2
You should be on at least 10.2.3 by Digi's minimum requirements with PT6.

Zax,

Sounds like you have the same problem I do.

This weekend I emailed [email protected] (I suggest you do the same) and today they sent me a replacement waveshell to try out. Kudos to them for a very quick response; I'll start checking out this fix tonight.

Glenn
p.s. From my email to them (this should sound familiar):

"I am a fairly new user of Waves plugins. I have the Native Gold bundle, and I am having several problems using Pro Tools LE v6.0.1 under Mac OSX 10.2.3.

1. very frequent bursts of noise on playback, The more instances of Waves plugins I have enabled, it seems the more frequent the noise
occurrences. This first item is a real productivity problem. A poor workaround is to stop and restart playback but the problem means I have to monitor at low levels and can't risk using headphones.

2. Frequent "the pro tools application has unexpectedly quit" . Again this seems to happen more frequently the more instances of Waves plugs
I have in use.

Do you have any fixes / patches available to address any of these issues?

Details:

Mac OSX 10.2.3
Newest generation DP 1.25GHz Mac G4 1GB Memory, audio files on 120GB LaCie firewire drive
Pro Tools LE v6.0.1 with DIGI001 Hardware
(latest Digidesign Core Audio drivers NOT installed)
Waves Gold Native bundle v4.0_X"

and their reply, with the attachment, read

"Replace the Waveshell you currently have on your system with the one attached to this e-mail.
Let us know if this helps fix the problem."

i have the dual 1.25 512 ram-10.2.4 -pt6.0.1 i dont have any 3rd party plugs-don't have the white noise problem-(i understand that this is the waves issue)but the frezzes/unexpectly quits i do have. i have tried repairing disk permissions/reverting to older versions of x/pts--no change/improvement-i dont do anything else on this computer so i dont know if everything else is working on it-but i did take it back to the apple store and they tested it -said it was ok--of course now its too late(beyond the 10days) to return it==

Update: I'm running a new dual 1.25GHz with PTLE 6.0.1, digi001, 1GB memory, OSX 10.2.3, Waves native Gold bundle v4.

Was getting lots of noise at playback and frequent PT unexpected quits.

This week Waves sent a new waveshell. The noise problem is gone but occasionally, not nearly as often as before, I still get the unexpected PT quit.
