Dual 1.25Ghz and 2GB RAM
Hi,
I just got a dual 1.25Ghz with 2G RAM Somebody please confirm (or explain) why the system 9 (not in classic mode) took too much RAM (under apple menu/about this Mac) ? With NO application running, the system took about 500 (sometime near 600) megs RAM ? it leave about 1.4Gb free ? If I remember correctly, my previous system (G4 733Mhz) the system took only 50/60 Mb ? why 10X more for the same OS ? I'm using Logic with TDM, loading some Giga instrument into EXS24 and that's it, no more RAM. My RAM chips are Kingston branch and I'm sure it's a right type. Please help Regards Sonny |

Re: Dual 1.25Ghz and 2GB RAM
Mac OS 9 cannot recognize more than 1.5 GB of RAM. From the math you are providing, it sounds as if you are basing your calculation on the assumption that OS 9 has access to 2 GB of RAM (2G-600M=1.4G). The 2 GB will work fine with OS X, but only 1.5 GB are available to OS 9.
