Default Upgrading to 5.1.1- operating system?

Hi all:
Well, i am finally getting to upgrading from 5.01 to the latest 5.1.1. I have a G4 with system 9.0. Will the upgrade work with this or do I need a later version of system 9 ?
I realise i might find this info on Digi's site but I want the real word from the street. Thanks,
Bruce

9 will work fine but you may want to consider 9.2.1. It is much more responsive and works well with PTLE.

I remember reading something about needing a later version of QuickTime.

Check this out before upgrading. You should really upgrade to 9.1 or 9.2. They are cooler (and work better... bonus).

Can u upgrade any Mac G4 to 9.2.1, or is it only for the new round of Macs?

my beige g3 runs awesome with 9.2.1 but I dont have protools on it so all I can say is the OS ruuns better with 9.2.1 than any other OS and I have run all of them.
