Default List of Plugins that Protools 9 is NOT playing nice with...

Hi all,

After reformatting my mac twice to get my system working, I gave up and started thinking I just will revert to protools 8 until a stable version of 9 is out. In the meantime, I'd like to get a list of plugins that people know are NOT playing nice with the new protools. So far, I have had problems with:

Slate FG-X
Digi Reel tape Delay
Digi Reel tape Flanger

and occasionally Pro Audio DSP DSM.

EDIT: Mic Mod EFX is a little shaky but does not affect the system

Can you guys please add to this list so people know not to upgrade if they need to use any of these plugins. Cheers.

PS: yes I know there is a plugin compatibility chart but as everyone know, it is not extensive, and the mere fact of saying "use the latest version of your plugin" doesn't actually make it work...

I have never been able to start anything more current than v1.04 of Lexicon PCM Reverb. The old 1.04 runs fine but newer ones crash immediately after plugin instantiation.

I've heard others have had success but on my platform it's just a no-go

I've never had problems with FG-X on PT9.

I just crashed a small VI's session with video

4 structures each with one inst
2 Predator
1 Xpand
1 ST Audio
1 Video track

I think we should get in the habit of posting things we have installed that are NOT on the Compatibility list as well as problem plugs that are to see if there are any similarities.

I updated my signature.

As you see I also have Dynamic Spectrum Mapper. From your list I also have Reel Tape Delay and Flanger although none of these 3 were in this particular session.

Not Structure LE. The newest version from the Instrument Expansion pack.

I see you have all the Massey and The Glue, which I use too, no problems with these ones either. I just find is so strange that heaps of people are running their PT9 setup rock stable with heaps of different plugs and I can't manage to get this happening...

Have you truly exhausted your troubleshooting with plugins? Problem plugins aren't necessarily the plugins that crash. A plugin can cause a session to crash even if it isn't instantiated.

The best thing you can do is completely clear out your plugins folder of 3rd party plugins and put them in one by one to find out which ones are actually causing the problems.

Perfect advice. You'll find the bad ones that way.

Also, a listing of your complete system will aid in troubleshooting. Please read the "Help Us Help You" at the top of this page. The "Help my system crashed" posting does not give enough info for a helpful response.

After quite a bit of testing, it came down to Reel Tape Delay and Flanger messing around with my system. Once they're in the unused plugs folder, it all SEEMS to work fine, but it's only been working OK for a few hours so I'm not sure that these are indeed the culprits of my shaky system.

Also to note: Slate FG-X will not load at all and asks me for authorization when launching PT.

Seeming as Reel Tape suite comes from Avid. Could you please fix these ?
