Default Heat users: Are you still using it?

We are thinking of getting Heat before the end of the year and I was curious if early adopters are still using it and what are your impressions now that you have extensive use with it.

Thank you.

Best thing to happen to Pro Tools mixing!

Together with Slate VCC it's a winning combo

There will of course be times when it sounds better bypassed on certain tracks...but most times it's on all tracks.

We use it on most tracks and most mixes. Very happy with the results.
I actually quit mixing with some other plugs and now use HEAT instead.

I recently got it and used it on my first mix. I like it a lot. There were a couple of tracks that I felt were better off without it and in this particular mix, I bypassed it on the bass and the vocal. I didn't expect to bypass it on the bass, but that's how it worked out and sounded better to my ears. For the vocal, I preferred the sound of the Phoenix plug-in, but I really liked it what it did to the mix as a whole and I can see it being a very useful tool.

Does it work with PT 9? I only see a download for 8.

Yes it works in 9 (9 install). The Demo license is put on your iLok.
However get the demo (30 days)
I opted to Slate as the Heat cost didn't justify the effect nor flexibility for me.

I also felt it should have been part of HD9. However I was close and at some point
if a loose $500.00 opportunity comes around I may re consider.

Use it all of the time. Like everyone has said, you just pick and choose which tracks it sounds best on. I use it on almost everything but usually not on vocals. It can muddy up the occasional acoustic guitar as well, but it's case by case. The Slate stuff is good too, but different in it's own way and can't be really pushed to the aggressive side of things if that's where you want to go.

Yes...that's what I'm saying...Slate and HEAT together is the winning combo.

HEAT is mostly in the tape mode, and slate does the board emulation...makes perfect sense together.

My typical setting for HEAT, is top knob a 9 o'clock and bottom at 3...it might be less, but never more.
