Default recording Guitar with In Pro Tools Mbox

advice on recording Guitar with Pro tools Mbox Mini
( Macbook)
I manly Used LE Mbox Mini for Midi as that what we where doing in college for projects and stuff.

I am hoping to save studio time by recording guitar parts and bass parts at home and recording only vocals and drums at a studio o r at least be able to work out ruff demo of songs at home good enough to put out on an EP.

Any advice, I got pro tools mbox, Either I could Mic up Amp with Sm mic but being at home theres no empty room so it would have objects or plug into Mbox and using Plug,in Amps,

But would not be sure where to start.
what are the not to dos as well

Not sure where to post this posted first in allthingsguitar but more views here and might get a response.

If you've got a good quality amp and a decent sounding room, then that's probably going to yield the best results. That said, at home you may not be able to crank-up the volume (often vital with valve amps) sufficiently high enough to get the optimal signals.

If in doubt, go the DI route. The chief advantage here is flexibility when mixing and no undesirable room noise.

I don't use the Mbox DI myself as I have a Pod Pro. IMO you're gonna fair better with a preamp/active DI box before the Mbox and going in at line level.

My $.02..

I use a Groove tubes brick for clean DI.. The tracks seem to be a good starting point for amplitude or Sansamp plugins..

Also use my pod > Boogie DC3 >recording/line output

I have never heard anyone say anything bad about the Radial DI's, either, but I haven't used one.

Do you have any kind of guitar effects that has a line out like the Pod? That's an easy starting point. Or an amp with a DI out...

I tried the Eleven trial and I wish I could justify the price because it was very nice...
