Masterlink and 002

I just purchased an alesis masterlink ml9600 and am thrilled with it! my question is should i use it to monitor out of? the d-a sounds really nice compared with the 002. while it sounds like i may have answered my own question, i'm really looking for others' experience with this combo and maybe some other ways of using it could be suggested. thanks. right now i have it connected by s/pdif but the unit also has analog outs. also, i did a mixdown last night feeding my tracks to the masterlink. i had to route every track to my spdf output in order to get it into the masterlink. why can't i just route the master fader to my spdf out? when i do, it shows no signal in the meters.... can you control-click and mirror the output on a masterfader?

go to hard ware setup and click spidf mirroring and the master fader will go to the master link

also I own a masterlink but I dont like monitoring through it , because record enabled must be on and if you change sample rates you got to kick it back over to digital blah blah

anyway In my opinion its a hassle

but I do use the converters to track vox and stuff

The 002 doesn't have the S/PDIF mirror option. Follow the directions in the 002 Getting Started Guide to send to multiple outputs.

u may have to change it in UTILITY from standalone mode

press PREF
then
SPDF
then S/DIF again to toggle through RCA or Opt1

that should work and or in ur I/O setup

If you open the Core Audio driver, and click on "Prefs", there's an option to "mirror analog outs 1 & 2 to digital outs". That might help.
