Conjecturing here. It appears to be TDM without TDM plugins. My guess is that the mix and delay comp are still done on the core card while plugins are all RTAS.
The core doesn't have DSP, it's just used to interface with the I/O. ALL processing is done native.
(I don't have any inside information, there's a picture of the core card... no DSP on it... and I regularly fill way more than 1 card with Delay comp alone...)

It will be interesting to see how taxing that is on the CPU....

I'll bet it's great... 10 year old technology on an accell card vs. a brand new dual-quad mac... I'll take my cpu...

but we'll see when you get a real big session, with picture etc etc etc... definitely interested...

Wonder if they're going to "nativize" some of the TDM plugs? When you buy HD1, HD2 etc there has always been that cool bundle of TDM plugs. Guess we'll wait & see...

Yes, there are still many great plugins which are TDM-only. I wouldn't (couldn't) switch until the plugins switch first.

But therein lies the rub: some companies WON'T rework their plugins to the RTAS platform. TC Electronic MD3, for instance. It's excellent but TDM-only.

RTAS is being processed on the CPU, delay comp on the PCI card, audio entering from the interface... This sound like a scenario where live monitoring/recording will exhibit an inherent delay, maybe an annoying amount for the singer/player. And tracks with RTAS on them will exhibit an even greater delay. And aux tracks with time-dependent RTAS effects (delays, for example) being fed by live monitoring/recording will be out of sync. Or did they find a way around all this? Of not, it still give HD-TDM a heavy advantage in this regard.
