Like I said in a earlier post. Digi's hands were tied until 10.5.3 was released. That being said, I'm sure they'll want to make absolutely certain that the actual 5.3 version released will work solidly with PT.

I bet the hackers will now find all sorts of hidden stuff in 5.3 indicating new apple products (or upgrades) coming at the convention.

Ok, but what you seem to be saying in reality is that it will still be several weeks before our purchase can be viewed as complete. We can take an unauthorised pre-version but in the end what if there are numerous and/or important changes before the finale relese version in ---when July or August? (several usually means more than 2 so we are semantically looking at July at least--and nothing gets done around the 4th of July). What would really be the purpose of recording music in the pre-version if they may not function well when the finale version is released and downloaded. Unless you want the customers to help test and authorise the product? Will the finale version be available as a disc, free plus shipping and handling? I don't know about everyone else, but with the hassles of varifying who we are and if we have a "right" to any free upgrades, and sign in and we don't recognise your password and put this code here and another code there: I WANT a HARDCOPY of 7.4.Leopard in case Digi's website stops recognising me as a customer and bumps me off, or if I need to do a clean install for whatever reason. I want a hardcopy of something that works or your money refunded. That's what I paid for.

why don't you burn the installer to disc? there's your hardcopy

I did the same when I upgraded from 7.3 to 7.4, just got all the installers, and burnt to disc, it's not too hard

It's not an "unauthorized" version, it's a beta version. Apparently it's working well so there won't necessarily be many changes. And how did you jump from "more than two" to July or August?

How would the beta version keep the final version from functioning well?

And yes, with a public release the customers are indeed helping to test the product, by definition.

No, you didn't pay for a hard copy. The upgrade is a download. You can pay extra for a DVD copy, and if you already paid for that you already got it. I'd imagine that they will have a DVD copy of the Leopard version available as well for an extra charge, but since they haven't offered it yet you haven't paid for it yet.

Digi didn't say anything about combo.

Apple has 2 updaters:
Delta, (what the System Updater downloads) is the difference between 10.5.2 and 10.5.3, well what Apple thinks it is the difference
Combo, we have learned over the years so painfully is all the updates from 10.5.0 so nothing gets missed (Delta misses things) much better chance of things actually working
