Default Anyone Using Waves X-Noise??

I have several guitar tracks that are very noisy, I tried attaching the Waves X-Noise to one of the tracks,It appears it will work nicely.

However i'm not sure how to use it as a stand alone audiosuite Thing. You know, where I can actually apply it to the track, rather than using it as a plugin.

Before I ruin all my guitar tracks by applying it wrong, How do I make sure i have it set correctly?(Is it possible to do it to much?) and how do I actually apply it?

thanks

Hey man-
I had an 8-track CASSETTE demo that I recorded for a friend of mine back in 1995 . . . we put the 8 tracks in Pro Tools, lined them up, and that was when I realized just how far I'd come with musical equipment since then.

ALL the tracks sounded VERY "tape-hiss-noisy" so I applied the X Noise thing to each track that seemed un-listenable by my new state of audio consciousness . . . needless to say, it took a bit of trial and error, but the end result is really quite incredible. You wouldn't wanna use it to the degree that you begin to destroy your high end, but to my ears, it sounded pretty impressive long before it got to that point.

Your original wave files will remain on the drive, so you can screw up and just re-import the original and try again if you go too far. Until you get too far though, you can always UNDO it until it sounds cool.

Hope that helps-
Jhon

The manual outlines the process pretty well. A few tips however:

* train X-noise (using the learn function) using a bit of noise that doesn't contain signal (ie. before you are playing) this sets up a noiseprint of the noise that you want to remove

* frequently use the 'difference' button to check what is actually getting removed, this really helps in fine tuning your settings

* instead of audiosuite run it as an insert on your guitar track, set the fader to unity and disable any other plugins inserted on that track. Set the output to that track to a bus (say bus 1 for example). Create a new audio track and set its input to bus 1, rec enable it, setup the plugin and when your happy with the results just hit record to record the processed signal back to the new track.

* once you have your new noise reduced track ctrl+click on the headroom display to check how much latency was introduced then nudge the new track backwards in time (earlier) that many sample to align it back up

* lastly, for best results aim to attenuate the noise not completely remove it

cheers,
marcus

Highlight the track or area on the track you want to apply it to. Open X-Noise through Audiosuite at the top. Adjust your settings the way you want them while playing back by hitting the preview button and when you have it the way you want it hit process at the bottom. It is that easy. If it doesn't process, click on the box in the upper right corner of the plugin so that the background of "Use in Playlist" is white.

Good luck.
